The UN Climate Change Conference – COP 25 – took place in Madrid, Spain from 2 to 13 December 2019.

As part of the agenda of the activities organized by SUEZ, GO SEEDS prepared a session titled “Open Innovation to face Climate Change” where representatives from corporates, start-ups and public administration had the opportunity to discuss about the pros and cons of the collaboration between entrepreneurs and big companies to come up with new technological solutions.

Maria Monzó, Director of Innovation and Knowledge of Aigües de Barcelona, acted as the chairperson of the event where two start-ups were represented, KUNAK and Green Urban Data, both working for improving air quality in the cities. SUEZ presented its innovation activities and ENISA showed its instruments to support SMEs and start-ups.

After initial presentations, a debate took place where the participants shared their opinion and talked about the benefits of being part of an ecosystem where all parties are represented.  Although some barriers were highlighted concerning different cultures and communication issues, they all agreed on the synergies of working together. Discussion also addressed the contribution of the work performed by the participants to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
