150 startups proposed their solutions to the technological challenges posed by 20 multinational companies within the framework of the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) that was held during the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona. This is the first edition of the initiative ‘Corporates & Startups Open Innovation Challenge’ organized by ACCIÓ -the agency for the competitiveness of the enterprises in Catalonia-, which aims to promote the processes of Open innovation between startups and consolidated companies. 650 startups presented more than 1,000 applications to participate in this day.

More than 200 meetings were hold in order to connect the technological needs of large companies – such as SUEZ, Nissan, Bayer, Orange, Carrefour, Varta or Henkel – with the innovations of the emerging companies. The 20 companies published several technological challenges that they have to deal with in areas such as 5G, the connected vehicle, virtual reality, retail, energy or industry 4.0.
